ABSTRACT

Aim: The aim of the study was to scrutinize the impact of spiritual intelligence on rejection sensitivity among young adults. The study also assessed the association between, Spiritual intelligence and rejection sensitivity. Methods: The data was drawn from an online survey of 203 adults between the age of 19-30 years, through convenience sampling the data was collected using, The Spiritual Intelligence Self-Report Inventory (SISRI 24), constructed by David B King and the RS-Adult questionnaire (A-RSQ) is an adaptation of the RSQ developed by Downey & Feldman, 1996. Statistical Analysis Used: The statistical technique of correlation was used to access the relationship between spiritual intelligence and rejection sensitivity, a t-test to access the gender difference in spiritual intelligence and rejection sensitivity was also used. Regression analysis was also used to understand the impact of spiritual intelligence on rejection sensitivity. Results: The findings of the study indicated that there is a negative correlation between spiritual intelligence and rejection sensitivity. In males and females, there was no significant gender difference in spiritual intelligence and rejection sensitivity which is in line with the previous studies. Finally, in terms of impact, spiritual intelligence had an impact of 42% on rejection sensitivity.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the effect of childhood trauma on non-suicidal self-injury and the chain mediating effect of rejection sensitivity and experiential avoidance. Methods:From June 2021 to April 2022, totally 1 130 college students were investigated with childhood trauma questionnaire-short form(CTQ-SF), the tendency to expect rejection scale, acceptance and action questionnaire-2nd edition(AAQ-Ⅱ) and Ottwa self-injury inventory(OSI). SPSS 25.0 and Mplus 8.0 software were used for descriptive analysis, Spearman correlation analysis, structural equation model construction and Bootstrap mediation effect test. Results:Correlation analysis showed that childhood trauma (34.64±8.25), rejection sensitivity (58.02±9.54), experiential avoidance (23.90±7.96) and non-suicidal self-injury (0(0, 1)) were all significantly positively correlated with each other( r=0.163-0.532, all P<0.01). Structural equation model showed that empirical avoidance played a partial mediating effect between childhood trauma and non-suicidal self-injury in college students, with an effect size of 0.045(95% CI=0.013-0.084). Rejection sensitivity and experiential avoidance played a chain mediating effect between childhood trauma and non-suicidal self-injury in college students, with an effect size of 0.017(95% CI=0.005-0.035). Conclusion:Childhood trauma can directly predict non-suicidal self-injury in college students, and it can also indirectly predict non-suicidal self-injury through the partial mediation effect of experiential avoidance and the chain mediation effect of rejection sensitivity and experiential avoidance.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo explore the relationship of rejection sensitivity, social inhibition and negative affect in army recruits.Methods358 recruits were measured with rejection sensitivity questionnaire, type D personality scale, and positive affect and negative affect scale.Results(1)The score of intimates' rejection sensitivity was highest(9.33±3.88),peers' rejection sensitivity was in the middle(8.59±3.27),teachers' rejection sensitivity was lowest(6.79±2.90),with statistical significance(F(2,355)=53.76,P<0.01).(2)Rejection sensitivity had significantly positive correlation with social inhibition(r=0.346,P<0.01).Negative affect had significantly positive correlation with rejection sensitivity (r=0.233,P<0.01) and social inhibition(r=0.351,P<0.01).(3)Social inhibition partially mediated the relationships between rejection sensitivity and negative affect(the value of mediating effect was 45.7%).ConclusionRejection sensitivity has direct effects on negative affect and indirect effects through social inhibition.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo assess the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the rejection sensitivity questionnaire(RSQ).Methods813 college students were investigated with RSQ and each caregiver was retested 4 weeks later. Results ( 1 ) All items had good discrimination.(2) Exploratory factor analysis showed the Chinese version of RSQ consisted of three factors which could explain 45.986% of the total variance.Confirmatory factor analysis indicated that there was high fitting degree between the three-factor model and the two-dimension model. They were significantly correlated with RSQ total score( r =0.661 ~ 0.851,P < 0.001 ).(3) The Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.809.The three factor's Cronbach's alphas were 0.684,0.631 and 0.534 respectively. The test-retest coefficient was 0.892 (P < 0.001 ).ConclusionThe Chinese version of RSQ is a reliable and valid measurement for assessing the rejection sensitivity of the Chinese college students.
